The Herki (or sometime spelt Harki) Kurds live along the Iraq / Turkey frontier and many have been displaced within the past 30 years from Turkey. The largest part live in Northern Iraq. Their rugs are characterised by good quality lustrous wool and stoutly thickly constructed. This large example was probably not intended for re-sale.
